Make that your monthly budget. that way, when you spend less you will be pleasantly surprised, but the inevitable expensive months will be well anticipated.

Another important factor to consider is that your budget will vary widely depending on the lifestyle that you and your horse live. If you keep your horse at a bare bones boarding facility, take one group lesson per week, and ride in second hand tack, your budget will be likely under $500/month. However, if you keep your horse in full training at an elite facility with premium footing, hot water in the wash racks, and full staff, you could be looking at thousands of dollars every month.
